areas of media relations, communications, marketing, and public relations for small and medium sized business entities. His knowledge and experience is highly valued by his clients. Utilizing his broad professional background in network management, business ownership and operations, O'Connell brings a wealth of experience to the table.
His experiences range from those as a professional journalist, broadcast manager and
producer, to public relations and marketing practitioner, and public opinion analyst.
As a business owner since 1977, O'Connell has "run the table" from news and sports
broadcast management and production at the national level, to market research and public opinion information analysis in the retail, governmental, and political arenas. In
his professional career, O'Connell has served in various executive positions, including broadcast journalism and management.

Founded as "Market Research of Austin" in 1977. The company, now known as The O'Connell Company
and "Team OC", performs media and communications consulting in the areas of marketing and public relations for general purpose, service, retail, broadcast, governmental,
sports and public policy clients.
Spinoff groups include Austin Communications Consultants - Austin.CC - which assists small and
medium sized businesses in developing effective media communications; "Air OC" - AirOC.com and Narrations.com - a production arm which primarily deals with writing, voice talent, and other
production matters; and, "Go Horns" - GoHorns.com - an internet site devoted to University of Texas Longhorn sports teams.

Executive Producer, NCAA Radio Network, 1985-2000
Managing executive responsible for national radio network coverage of the Men's and Women's
annual College Basketball Tournament (culminating in what is known as "The Final Four") over The CBS Radio Network; and the same function for the annual College World
Series over Host Communications and Mutual/Westwood Networks.
Executive Producer, University of Texas Sports Network, 1979-1984
Managed, directed and produced regional radio network broadcasts of University of Texas
football and basketball games, and coach's call-in shows.
Executive Producer – Collegiate Networks, 1988-1994
Responsible for formats, staffing, production, and network philosophy for the football and
basketball networks of: The Universities of Texas, Alabama; Auburn and Florida State Universities; the U.S. Military Academy ("Army"), the U.S. Naval Academy ("Navy"); and
the former Southwest Conference Radio Network. Served the same responsibilities in an advisory capacity to the Universities of Kentucky and Tennessee networks.
CBS Radio Sports Network Producer, 1989-1999
National "game-week" producer of The College Football Game-of-the-Week, The College Basketball
Game-of-the-Week, Major League Baseball Game-of-the-Week (including playoffs), and "Monday Night Football", and NFL Playoff games.
Produced world-wide broadcasts of United States Hockey at the Lillehammer, Norway (1994) and
Nagano, Japan (1998) Winter Olympic Games, over CBS Radio.
Produced world-wide broadcasts of NFL Europe (including championship game) – 1998.
Broadcast locations included Barcelona, Glasgow, Frankfurt, and Dusseldorf.
